Institute of banking personnel selection (IBPS) department scheduled IBPS Law officer exam on 29.12.2018 and 30.12.2018. Interested candidates can apply for “Law Officer” exam from November 2018.

LAW OFFICER Work & Eligibility –

A Law Officer is a person who regulates, keep in mind all the legal activities of the bank. He/she gives a compelling legal guidance in the arrangement of legal opinions, studies, reports, and correspondence, as required every once in a while by different branches of the bank.

The primary duty of the officer is to help and guide that all the work of bank is complete accordance with the laws and act directed by the government.

A Law Officer also ensures that if the bank signs any contracts with individuals or companies/organizations, the companies/organizations/ individuals must be legally fit and in legally right manner. He also provides legal advice to the staff members.

The salary or the pay scale of a Law Officer is 34000-70000/-. It is the post under six specialist officer post of the IBPS exam. To appear in this exam here is a proper eligibility criteria for law officer job –

Law Officer Exam Pattern –

IBPS Law officer exam have two stages 1. Written test and 2. Interview. Law officer written exam is an objective type paper containing four sections i.e.

  1. Reasoning test of 50 marks
  2. English language test of 25 marks
  3. General awareness test of 50 marks
  4. Professional knowledge test of 60 marks

In the total of 125 marks, 0.25 marks are deducted for any wrong question as negative marking.

And then the interview is conducted if the written exam and interview are cleared then candidates get selected for this post in any of the banks like Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank Of India, Bank of Maharashtra and all other banks included in IBPS.     Just want to know the age limit for the Law officer’s post in all the banks in general. And is enrolling with bar council is a mandate for only IBPS or other banks also?

    • Hello, For Law Officer you should require A Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council and Age Limit is Age (As on 01.11.2018): Minimum: 20 years Maximum: 30 years i.e. A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.11.1988 and not later than 01.11.1998 (both dates inclusive)

    I’m a law graduate and I’ve secured 53% in my Bachelor’s degree , and I am enrolled as an advocate in the State bar council. I come under OBC category. Is the Law degree enough for the post of SO Law Officer or PO officer or is there any minimum requirement on the percentage of marks ? In a few websites I read that a minimum on 60% is required for both Law officer and Po , is it so? Is there any work experience required , some say 2 years experience is required? CAN YOU PLEASE CLARIFY ME ON THIS.. THANK YOU SIR/MAM.

    I’m working in a Private Bank for the past three years as Deputy Manager Law . I have been recruited as Law officer after completion of my law degree directly from Campus, so I haven’t enrolled as an advocate in the bar council as it is a rule not to get enrolled when you don’t practice.

    I have more than 2 years experience in banking as Law officer, whether i am eligible to appear for the IBPS SO Law officer exam.

    • Hello Shivani, For Law Officer, you required Two years as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period not less than two years.

        But it is given in websites only for enrollment for an advocate. IBPS website not mention specifically for 2 years practice and all.This things are creating confusion.

    • Scale-I is IBPS SO Post and For this post Min- 20 Years Max-30 Years age required and Educational qualification required A Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council.
      Scale-II is IBPS RRB Specialist Officer Post for this post 21 to 23 years age required and Degree from a recognized University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate Educational qualification required, and Two years as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period not less than two years experience required.

    • हेल्लो करण, आईबीपीएस राजभाषा अधिकारी के लिये योग्यता – पोस्ट ग्रेजुएशन हिंदी में तथा ग्रेजुएशन डिग्री में अंग्रेजी होनी आवश्यक है. या फिर पोस्ट ग्रेजुएशन डिग्री संस्कृत में, साथ में अंग्रेजी और हिंदी ग्रेजुएशन में सब्जेक्ट होना चाहिए|

      All the educational qualifications mentioned should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognised by Govt. Of India/ approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies.

    • Sorry, Samridhi but in IBPS RRB Law Officer Max to max age limit is required from 21 – 32 years. And In IBPS SO Law officer it will be 20 – 30 years for General category candidates.
